Stargate Universe, the 3rd Stargate series, was the franchise’s attempt at going dark.
Nolan did it with Batman and it worked. Snyder did it with Man of Steel and Batman Vs Superman and it didn’t work. Wright and Cooper (the series creators) did it with Stargate Universe…and it kind of worked. Having Robert Carlyle on board certainly helped bring a realism to Stargate that viewers hadn’t seen before. But you know what else helped?
Yes, the music. It was grittier and gave a real impression of being lost in space with little hope.
